Ernesto J. Armijo

Ernesto J. Armijo age 95 of Socorro NM passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025. Ernesto was born in Mc Nary, Arizona to Frank and Izadora (Gonzales) Armijo.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Rose (Garcia) Armijo, sons Ignacio Armijo, Ernest Armijo Jr, 2 infant sons, and daughter Corine (Armijo) Otero, and grand-daughter Bridgette Armijo, and Great Grand-daughter Tabitha Armijo, and Great-great grandson Axton Creed Silva.

He is survived by his daughters, Emma Chavez (Jimmy), Irene Welborn, and Joann Armijo; Grandchildren: Daniel James Chavez (Sandra), Ignacio Chavez (Jennie), April Reyes (Ruben), Rosemary Chavez (Stewart), Valerie Montoya, Lorina Armijo, Christopher Armijo (Jennifer), Amanda Armijo-Baggs, Gene Otero (Malissa), Marianne Chavez (Raymond), Geneva Otero-Armijo (Gilbert), Christina Mertz (Wesly) and several great grand-children, and great-great grandchildren.

Ernest attended school in San Pedro, NM up to the 8th grade. He went on to have a successful career as a city police officer until he was injured off-duty. The greatest role he held was being a grandfather to all his grandchildren, as he was a loving and inspiring grandfather to many grandchildren.

Ernest enjoyed riding horses and going to the horse races. He looked forward to going to the casino. He had a sweet-tooth and enjoyed eating candy. He had deep love for his daughters and shared the brightest smile when he was trying to convince them to take him on an outing. He greeted all his grandchildren with a hug and a joke.

Memorial and Funeral services will be held in Boquecito, NM at the family cemetery on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

After the services, the Armijo welcomes everyone to gather and celebrate Ernesto’s life at the DAV. Your presence would mean so much to the family.
