Emma Jean Addington Sottoway

Emma Jean Addington Sottoway – wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great, Great Grandmother, and friend went to be with our Lord December 13, 2025 after a hard fought battle with dementia.

Jean was born in Kingsport, TN on April 5, 1942 and was raised by her Granny Emma Alice Addington. Jean moved to Dayton, OH with her mother Mildred Scalf where she attended Northridge High School.

She married her High School sweetheart Reggie Welborn and had three children – Jerry, Regina, and Mark. She worked as a hairdresser at North Plaza Beauty Salon in Dayton until retirement. Jean married Wayne Sottoway on July 30th , 1977 and made a “Brady Bunch” with their 7 children, ages 11 to 19. The years brought 14 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great, Great Grandchild.

Jean will be remembered for her beautiful smile, love of family, friends, and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held at Montgomery Church of Christ, 7201 Montgomery Blvd NE, Albuquerque on Saturday January 24th , 2026 at 2 pm.
