CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF MRS. EMILOLA
AFOLORUNSO OGUNTOLU (nee ADEWUMI)
With deep sorrow, but with great
appreciation for a life well lived, the
Oguntolu family announces the passing of
their beloved mother, Mrs. Emilola
Afolorunso Oguntolu (nee Adewumi), R.N.
Born on 18th November 1942 in Ijebu Oru,
Ogun State, Nigeria. She passed peacefully
surrounded by her family on 19th August
2026 at her home in Rio Rancho, New
Mexico, USA. She was 83 years old.
She was a graduate of both the
University of Ibadan, University
College Hospital, School of Nursing,
in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria and the
Florence Nightingale School of
Nursing, Kings College, in London,
United Kingdom. She enjoyed a long
and dedicated career in nursing for
over 40 years, notably serving as
charge nurse at Johns Hopkins
Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland prior
to her retirement. She was also
featured in nursing publications,
highlighting her exemplary
performance in patient care.
She was devoted to her family,
friends, and community, which
included a lifelong commitment to
and charitable support of those less
fortunate than herself. After retiring
to New Mexico, she also became a
dedicated member and supporter of
the Cathedral of St John Episcopal
Cathedral and remained so for over
15 years.
She is survived by: Her children: Ms.
Olubunmi Oguntolu, PhD, Ms.
Olufemi Oguntolu, Esq., Mr. Oluseyi
Oguntolu, in-laws, cousins, nephews,
nieces, and a large extended family.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May her gentle soul through the mercy
of God, rest in perfect peace.
