Father Ignacio Tafoya, a devoted Catholic priest, passed away on July 11, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on April 28, 1938, to Eligio and Amalia Tafoya, Father Tafoya dedicated his life to serving numerous parishes and communities. Following his retirement in 1995, he returned to his childhood home in Alameda.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eligio and Amalia; his sisters, Flora Vau (Augustine), Juanita Sparks (Richard), Alice Kozlowski (William), and Mella Chavez (Johnny); and his brother, Melquiadez (Max) Tafoya.

He is survived by his brother, Rosendo, and his wife, Nella; his sister-in-law, Sally Tafoya; and many nieces and nephews. Father Tafoya was deeply loved by his family, friends, and the many parishioners he served throughout his ministry. He will be missed.

Services will be held at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary:

- Funeral Mass: August 5, 2026, at 9:00 AM
