Father Ignacio Tafoya, a cherished and dedicated Catholic priest, peacefully left this world on July 11, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on April 28, 1938, to beloved parents Eligio and Amalia Tafoya, he devoted his life to the service of numerous parishes and communities. Following a fulfilling career, he retired in 1995 and returned to his cherished childhood home in Alameda.

He joins his parents and siblings, Flora Vau (Augustine), Juanita Sparks (Richard), Alice Kozlowski (William), Mella Chavez (Johnny), and his brother, Melquiadez (Max) Tafoya, in eternal rest.

Father Tafoya leaves behind his brother, Rosendo, and his wife, Nella, as well as his sister-in-law, Sally Tafoya. He is also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. His family, friends, and countless parishioners hold him dear in their hearts, and his presence will be profoundly missed.

Services to honor Father Tafoya will be held at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with a Rosary on August 4, 2026, at 6:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Mass on August 5, 2026, at 9:00 AM.
