Eleanor Gallant was born on September 23, 1935, at Bronx Hospital to Helen (née Goldman) and Aaron Rosenblum. As an only child, she cherished the company of her many cousins. Her mother worked as a nurse, while her father drove a cab in New York City and sold fruit during the summers at White Lake, New York. Eleanor attended PS 90 for grade school and graduated from William Howard Taft High School in 1952. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in early childhood development from City College of New York, where she met her future husband, Gerald Gallant.

After their marriage, the couple moved to Binghamton, New York, where Gerald completed his Ph.D. in English Literature. Their only son, Dion, was born there in 1969. The family then relocated to Grand Forks, North Dakota for work. Challenging times and weather eventually led to a divorce, prompting Eleanor and Dion to move to Gallup, New Mexico in 1976. After teaching on the Navajo reservation for two years, they moved to Albuquerque, where Eleanor lived for ten years before settling in the San Fernando Valley to be near her cousins.

In 2000, she returned to New Mexico to help care for her grandchildren, Sophie and Theo. Throughout her later years, Eleanor remained active in various clubs, including TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly), Spiritual Club, East Mountain Historical Society, Vintage Players, and Mah Jongg. She also discovered a passion for jewelry making and became quite skilled.

Eleanor is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dion Gallant and Kara Peterson, and her grandchildren, Sophie and Theo, along with countless friends. In her final days, she expressed gratitude for a life filled with friendships and adventure. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
