IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dolores Lola
Baca
April 1, 1943 – January 14, 2026
Dolores Lola Baca passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on January 14th. Dolores was born on April 1st, 1943, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is preceded in death by her parents, Andres and Inez Chavez, and her brother, Andy Chavez. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joe Wilfred Baca; her brother, Ben Chavez; her daughters, Glenda and Donna; her sons-in-law, Andrew and Sam; her grandchildren, Jayson, Amber, Stacey, and Jacob; and nine beautiful great-grandchildren.
Dolores was a deeply compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and teacher. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1961, earned her bachelor’s degree in 1985, and her master’s degree in 1986. Dolores was a dedicated and compassionate teacher for 25 years, teaching second grade at Armijo and McCollum Elementary Schools. She embraced every child who crossed her path, giving them the hope, confidence, and attention they deserved.
Dolores was a gifted writer, poet, and artist. She always made sure her grandchildren received a unique, homemade card for their birthdays and holidays. One of her greatest passions was her abundant doll collection, consisting of hundreds of dolls. She loved each one and felt a special connection to every doll she added to her collection, which filled an entire room in her home. She was also well known for her love of painting rocks, adorning them with creative designs and inspirational phrases.
Dolores was a strong believer in God and goodness and created a safe space where every person could truly be themselves. She was forgiving, empathetic, courageous, and had a wonderful sense of humor—even in the darkest of times. She had a way of making life’s challenges feel manageable. Dolores bravely battled Parkinson’s disease for many years, maintaining a positive attitude throughout her journey. If you knew or ever met Dolores, you were touched by an angel, and she will forever live in our hearts.
