Denise Marie Bridges

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Denise Marie Bridges on Friday, April 29, 2022, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Denise was born to Dennis S. Chavez and Eva G. Chavez on April 8, 1960, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was the only girl growing up with three brothers, Dennis Wayne Chavez, Ronald Chavez, and Michael Chavez. Denise was preceded in death by her father, Dennis S. Chavez, and her brother, Dennis Wayne Chavez. She is survived and missed dearly by her mother, Eva G. Chavez, her daughter, Brittany Ann Bridges, her granddaughters, Madden “Cita” Marie De Santiago and Kenli Rae De Santiago, her son-in-law, John Santiago, her brothers, Ronald and Michael Chavez, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Denise graduated from Sandia High School in 1978. Soon after, she married her high school sweetheart, Eugene D. Bridges, Jr., whom she shared 23 beautiful years and a baby girl. Even though life took them in separate directions, over the years the two remained close even on the days they drove each other crazy. Denise worked for Albuquerque Public Schools where she served in the Behavioral Intervention Program and later as an APS Police Dispatcher until her retirement in 2017. In her free time, she made simple things into beautiful craft creations and turned holiday pumpkin painting into an annual family tradition. Denise loved many things in life, but her love was the greatest for her only daughter, Brittany Ann, and granddaughters Cita Marie, and her baby, Kenli Rae. She often shared that Brittany was her miracle baby and she spent her life making sure her girls had everything they needed. Denise always went above and beyond for anyone she came into contact with. Although she had one biological child, many of her family members depended on her throughout the years for her guidance, love, and ability to cook up an amazing dish of enchiladas and homemade salsa. Denise always had a fear of heights, but it never stopped her from the adventure’s life took her on, it may have just had her screaming at the top of the Grand Canyon and Golden Gate Bridge. Although those she left behind on Earth already miss her greatly, we are so grateful she is home with Papa and at peace. Our family would like to give our greatest appreciation to all those who have reached out in one way or another. We find solace in knowing that Denise made such a big impact in the lives of others. Her soul and memory will be something we cherish forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you might donate towards creating a memorial tree or bench for her granddaughters to visit whenever they feel they need her guidance the most. Denise’s services will take place at Trujillo Family Funeral Home, located at 110 Alvarado Dr. SE, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87108, on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Noon.
