Debra Joan
Brasher
January 14, 1953 – May 8, 2026
In Loving Memory of Debra Joan Brasher
Debra Joan Brasher, age 73, of McIntosh, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026. Surrounded by family.
Born on January 14, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Debra lived a life defined by love, laughter, and devotion to family. She was known for her many years of service at Rip Griffins and T.A. Restaurant, where her kindness and strength touched countless lives. She later worked at the Torrance County Detention Center several years before retiring.
Debra’s heart belonged to her children and grandchildren. She lived every day for her family teaching, nurturing, and loving with fierce devotion. In her later years, she found joy in sharing her favorite crafts, especially crocheting and sewing, with those she loved. Her creativity and humor filled every room she entered. She was funny, kind, and strong — a woman who loved unconditionally and gave selflessly.
She is survived by her five children: Jennifer, Candice, Kimberly, Teresa, and Robert; three stepchildren; well over 20 grandchildren, including three she helped raise — Lethicia, Valentino, and Rogellia; and many great-grandchildren; as well as a large extended family who lovingly called her “Mom” or “Nanny.” She loved every child she met like they were her own.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Jane Handlon, her brother Rick, and her son Johnny.
A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 pm on May 31st @ The Moriarty Lions Club located at 515 Lions Ln, Moriarty, NM 87035, where family and friends will gather to honor an extraordinary woman whose spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Debra will be deeply missed but never forgotten — her love remains the thread that binds her family together.
A Poem in Memory
"Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed, and very dear."
