David Warren Slade

David left his earthly home to reside in his heavenly home on Oct. 10, 2022.  He truly embraced life and experienced every moment to its fullest.  He was born June 18, 1934, in Texas yet lived most of his life in Albuquerque, NM.  He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Navy Reserves from Nov. 20, 1952, to November 19, 1960. Most of his career was spent as an Industrial Painting Contractor and was a licensed NACE Inspector. He owned several businesses under different names but most recent was Coating & Corrosion Specialist.  He loved to travel – his most favorite places were Aspen, CO and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.  He enjoyed many adventurous activities:  flying his private aircraft, sailing/boating, fishing, hunting, and spending hours at the gym. His log cabin in Pagosa Springs, CO was a place for him to relax and take in the beauty of that area.  His favorite pastime was gourmet cooking, and all his extravagant meals were served with an excellent bottle of wine.  Most invited to share in these yummy meals were happy to join in without hesitation.   David had a unique personality and was a very generous, thoughtful, kind, loyal, loving, and gentle man and will leave a huge void in our hearts and lives. 

We would like to thank Legacy Hospice for their caring hearts for taking care of all of David’s medical needs, and last but not least, his caregivers for their support, love and compassionate care during David’s illness…..Thank You Everett, Aubrey,  Denise, Lori Ann and Dashan ~ We are thankful for the blessing and honor of having each one of you caring for David so tenderly.  We would also like to thank those who visited him regularly during this trying time….we know it meant a lot to him.ߤ

Thanks to Trujillo Family Funeral Home staff, for your compassion and professionalism as final arrangements were made for David.  A special thank you to Jim Martinez.  Words can’t even begin to express how grateful we were to have him as we went through this difficult time ~ Jim was such a gentleman and went above and beyond in making the final memorial arrangements in honoring and reflecting upon David’s life and passing.

A Private Celebration of Life for David is being planned.
