David Enrique Castañeda, known to his family and friends as Enrique, Kike, or Kiki, was born on July 16, 1956, in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Manuel Ángel Castañeda and Adela González Ramos. He was raised in Juárez and was especially close to his mother and his maternal grandmother, Adelaida González, both of whom he loved dearly.

He grew up alongside his siblings: Rosa Ivonne Castañeda, Manuel Ángel Castañeda, José Ramón Roybal, María Elena Muñoz, and María Elizabeth Villar González.

In his twenties, Enrique came to the United States and eventually made New Mexico his home. He spent much of his adult life in the Albuquerque area and also lived for a time in Los Lunas.

Enrique was a hard worker and a man of many talents. Over the years, he worked at a popcorn factory, on a dairy farm, in construction and painting, and in janitorial work. He was good with his hands and knew how to build, repair, paint, and create.

He also had a deeply artistic side. He loved to draw and paint and enjoyed making things by hand, including unique creations such as lamps made from tree stumps.

Music was another important part of Enrique’s life. He loved to sing, wrote his own songs, and recorded several CDs. His songs were inspired by faith, love, heartbreak, family, and life. He especially loved using his music to minister to others and share his love for God.

Above all, Enrique loved the Lord. His faith was an important part of who he was and remained with him throughout his life.

Enrique was the father of three children: Omar David Nuñez, David Enrique Castañeda, and Cindy Melissa Castañeda. He was also a grandfather to Elijah Enrique Lee Carrillo, David Eduardo Nuñez, Abigail Estefania Nuñez, and Dilan Fernando Nuñez.

Enrique passed away on August 18, 2026, at the age of 70. He leaves behind his children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and many others who knew and loved him.

His family will carry with them the memories he gave them, along with his songs, his artwork, and the many things he created with his own hands.

Because of the faith Enrique held so dearly, we say goodbye with hope, trusting that this separation is only temporary and that one day we will see him again.
