In Loving Memory of Danny Barela

Danny Barela, 61, entered the gates of Heaven on June 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mary Barela, and his beloved sister, Anita. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 39 years, Charlean; his daughters, Amanda and Tesla; and his cherished grandchildren, Analeeza "Nanaboo", Conrad "Junior Mafia", Candace "Baby Doll", Mariano "Flaco", Amarlina "Suga", and Mateo "Teo-Tots", who brought immense pride and joy to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Maria, along with many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.

Danny graduated from Rio Grande high school in 1982 and attended college in Arizona to study automotive mechanics. Although mechanics was his passion, his career path eventually changed, and he spent many years working as a cabinet maker, where he became known for his exceptional craftsmanship. When illness began to affect his ability to work, he retired early and devoted himself to what he loved most, building and restoring old-school classic cars. Whether it was a car for his daughters, family members, friends, or one of his many personal projects, Danny poured his heart, talent, and attention to detail into every vehicle he touched.

A man of intelligence and skill, there seemed to be nothing Danny couldn't fix or create. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, solve a problem, or share his knowledge with others. Beyond his talents, Danny will be remembered for the joy and laughter he brought to everyone around him. He was a true jokester who always had something funny, unexpected, or downright crazy to say. You could count on Danny to make you laugh, keep you on your toes, or challenge you to an impromptu WWE wrestling match. He had a special nickname for everyone, especially his grandchildren, and those names became lasting reminders of the love and bond he shared with each of them.

Danny's creativity, sense of humor, and generous spirit left an impression on all who knew him. His passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of his family and friends, but the memories, laughter, love and knowledge he gave so freely will remain forever. Danny will be deeply missed and forever carried in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love him. His spirit lives through his children, grandchildren, and family who are committed to keeping his memory alive and continuing his life's work... In Danny's words, "light one!"
