Christopher Manuel Borrego, born June 17, 1954, in Pojoaque, NM, passed away on August 6, 2023. Chris is sadly missed by his wife Gail Dunlap Borrego to whom he was devoted for thirty-four years. He is also survived by his daughter from a former marriage, Sarah Abeyta (Buddy) and his granddaughter, Sophie Abeyta, and his stepchildren: Justin Dunlap (Michelle) and their children Brock and Brooke Dunlap; Danelle Montoya (Robert), her daughter Kayla Mendoza Holt (Dexter) and granddaughter Hazlyn Mendoza. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Teresa Borrego and sister, Carmen Borrego Seitz. Surviving siblings are his sister Dolores Borrego Jacobs and brothers, Nathan Borrego, Edward Borrego, and John Borrego.
His Sister-in-law Maureen (Corey) Noble, Brother-in-law Tommy Gonzales, Nephew Colt Gonzales (Angela) Great nephews Josiah Baca and Sebastian Gonzales, Nephew Andy Trujillo.

He had many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
 
After high school, Chris pursued a career in law enforcement. He worked as a police officer in Espanola, New Mexico. Chris later served as a security guard at Espanola Hospital and at the San Juan and Cities of Gold Casinos.
 
Chris had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his memorable one-liners. He was mischievous as a child and grew up to be a generous and loving man. In his free time, Chris enjoyed fishing trips with family members, helping on construction projects, and working on old cars. He found joy in these hobbies and cherished the time spent with loved ones.
 
Family members will hold a private celebration of life in memory of Christopher M. Borrego.
