Carie Dian
Chavez
January 9, 1978 – April 2, 2026
Carie Dian Chavez passed quietly from this world on April 2, 2026, attended by her three dogs and her husband of 27 years. Her quiet departure, while unexpected, was a culmination of many years of battling countless illnesses.
Although she struggled almost every day of her past twenty years, it wasn’t unusual to catch her singing and dancing and making the best of her days. Carie’s warm and whimsical nature will be greatly missed by all that were blessed with her love and companionship. There wasn’t a person or animal in need that Carie wouldn’t open her heart to help.
Carie served as a member of the New Mexico Air National Guard Family Program and founded the “Bomb Squad” youth program. During her time serving the youth of the 150th NMANG, she organized many events for the youth and helped with the Janet Vargas Memorial Fund. In 2005 she raised enough money so every deploying member of the 150th NMANG could have a Shields of Strength dog tag.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard, her two sons, Devin and Andrew, parents, Kenneth and Nancy Foust and Joe and Linda Page, brothers Clint and Charlie, sisters JoDe and Jennifer, Uncle Tracy and many nieces and nephews.
