In Loving Memory of Brenda Kay Barbeau
Brenda Kay Barbeau, aged 74, peacefully left us on June 17th, 2025, surrounded by the love she so deeply cherished. She was the devoted widow of Dennis Barbeau, sharing 35 beautiful years filled with love and companionship.
Born in Madison County, Jackson, Tennessee, to Samuel James Barnes and Ida Mai Ervin, Brenda dedicated herself to lifelong learning, earning her GED in 1991. She later retired from Walmart, where her warmth and kindness touched the lives of many.
With a caring heart and a resilient spirit, Brenda had an innate ability to make those around her feel cherished. Her radiant smile could brighten any room, and her playful pout often brought laughter to her family. Every gathering—be it a holiday or a simple evening together—was an opportunity for her to express her love for those she held dear.
Brenda, lovingly known as “Mamaw” to her grandchildren, found joy in spoiling them and engaging in playful card games like Rummy. She loved those precious moments shared watching the evening news with her family, proving that it is the little things that create lasting memories. Even when faced with breast cancer and other health challenges, her strength and determination inspired everyone around her.
She leaves behind her beloved sons, David Barbeau Sr. and Christopher Barbeau, along with her daughter-in-law, Venessa Barbeau. Her cherished grandchildren, Jaycee Lovelady, Edan Barbeau, Cody Barbeau, David Barbeau Jr., Christina Lovelady, Alicia Barbeau, Erela Barbeau, Ashlee Barbeau, and Courtney Barbeau, along with three additional grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, will carry her spirit forward. Brenda was predeceased by her son, Robert Jean Barnes, and daughter, Suzanne Christine Jurgensen.
A heartfelt farewell was held in her honor on July 1st at Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, with a warm viewing earlier at Trujillo Family Funeral Home in Albuquerque.
Brenda’s love was genuine, and her kindness immeasurable. Though she may no longer walk among us, the love and warmth she shared will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
