Blaney Earl
Lee
February 4, 1930 – April 5, 2026
Blaney Earl Lee passed away on April 5, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 96. The son of Norwood Earl Lee and Cornelius (Neal) Calk Lee, he is survived by his daughter, Sara Lee Archer of Sandwich, Massachusetts; his son, Jeffery A. Lee (partner Lawrence Austin) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his grandson, Samuel L. Archer (wife Kristen); and his two great-granddaughters, Ruby and Maggie. He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Ray Lee.
Blaney was a graduate of Duke University and the University of North Carolina. He was an educator for more than 50 years, serving in public schools and universities in North Carolina, Massachusetts, and Texas.
He taught in a variety of venues, including elementary school, college classes, and a prison pre-release program. He took particular pride in developing the curriculum for one of the early latchkey programs in the public school system of New Bedford, Massachusetts.
He had a lifelong curiosity about everything in the world around him and lived to share the things he had learned. His deepest satisfaction in life came when he was able to spark a student's love of learning.
His ashes will be interred in the family plot in Alvin, Texas.
