Betty Jo Garcia

Albuquerque, New Mexico

Betty Jo Garcia, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday July 9, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born on September 12, 1938, to Cosme and Filomena Garcia. Betty Jo was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Odelia Lucero, Mable Clew, Sylvia Sanchez, Nancy Garcia, Jeronimo (Harry) Garcia, and Gil Garcia. 

She is survived by her two children, son Rudy Garcia and wife Yvette, daughter Yvette Pennington and husband David; grandsons Derek Garcia and wife Reina, Vincent Chavez and partner Troy, Tyler Pennington and wife Madeline, Darryl Pennington and partner Jessica; great grandsons Derek Garcia Jr., and Isaiah Garcia; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty Jo worked for various government agencies throughout her lifetime. Her greatest joys were music, dancing, sewing, baking, racquetball, yardwork, visiting family, traveling, and backyard family gatherings. She loved her family dearly and was always eager to help others. Her faith, strong will, positiveness, and family devotion will be remembered and missed greatly.

Services will be held Thursday August 7, 2025, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd., SW, Albuquerque, New Mexico. A rosary will begin at 8:15 a.m. followed by a mass service at 9:00 a.m.
