Betty Ann Herrington departed her temporary earthly home on August 11, 2026. She was just shy of her 90th Birthday. Instantaneously, she was welcomed into her eternal heavenly home. The Bible says there was a glorious celebration upon her arrival. Betty is seeing Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, face to face. Can you picture her laughing, singing, and serving.

Betty was born on September 23, 1936, the eldest of eight children, to Louise M. and Wilbur A. Cherry. Her sisters Marjie, Bobbi, Karen and brother Aubrey remain.

On July 1, 1952, Betty married Billie Marvin Herrington. She was married 43 years when he passed on March 10, 1996. Seven children blessed this family and every name, including the parents, begins with a B. Her daughter, Barbara Ann Herrington and her son, Brian Allen Herrington of Estancia, New Mexico are living. All other children have proceeded her, they are: Billy Marvin Herrington Jr, Bernal Marlin Herrington, Becky Maya Heath, Bonnie Marie Herrington, and Brent Alvin Herrington. She loved all her children and grandchildren and prayed for them regularly. There are 11 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.

No one doubted her unwavering Christian faith. She believed and followed Christ Jesus many of the years she lived, and she served the church in many capacities. Betty's greatest hope and fervent prayers were that all her children and every extended family member (until Christ returns) would put their faith in Jesus Christ and be saved. She wanted to be assured that one day, she would see them all again.

Betty was given many gifts and talents. Music was her great passion. She played the guitar, learned the piano in mid-life, and sang solos with a beautiful soprano voice. All these she used to bring joy to others whether in or out of church.

Betty was also an excellent baker. Her daughter Barbara also has this gift. Many have enjoyed Betty's amazing yeast rolls, coconut pies, multi-tiered wedding cakes, and of course her special peanut butter cookies with a secret ingredient. All these were shared abundantly.

Raising children and grandchildren was Betty's main role. However, in later years she managed the cafeteria for APS schools; started her own restaurant, The Black Mesa; arranged flowers in her son Brent's shop in Texas; performed custodial work for a dentist; and volunteered to keep Rio Grand Baptist Church in pristine condition.

Betty lived for years in the South Valley of Albuquerque, NM. She also lived in the East Mountains; and Amarillo, TX; but her final years were spent in Estancia, NM. She was well loved by many, as she touched lives in all these places. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all the people who were impacted by her servant's heart.

When asked if she had a favorite Scripture Betty said, “There are just too many wonderful verses and promises in God's Word. It would be hard to pick just one.”
