Bertha Saucedo Marentes was born on September 5, 1929, in El Salitre Zacatecas, Mexico, to Pedro Saucedo-Macias and Maria Herrera-Galvan. She married Antonio Marentes-Sanchez on November 19, 1948, in Ciudad Juarez Chihuahua, Mexico. Together, they raised a large and loving family of fourteen children: Jose Antonio Marentes, Carlos Marentes, Pedro Marentes, Angelica Ponce, Victoria Marentes, Alejandro Ramon Marentes, Pedro Marentes, Elizabeth M. Rivera, Cruz Marentes, Christina Marentes, Bertha Marentes, Maria Elena Marentes, Alfredo Marentes, and Martin Marentes. Although Bertha experienced the loss of some dear family members, including Pedro (1952), Victoria (1955), and Martin (2001), her enduring love and dedication remained a lasting legacy.

Bertha became a naturalized citizen of the United States on December 15, 1995, reflecting her deep ties to her community and country. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Antonio Marentes, who passed away on July 10, 2005.

Her life was marked by her commitment to family and the strength she showed throughout the years.
