Bernadette was born on June 25th, 1947 in Santa Fe, NM and passed away peacefully at home in

Albuquerque surrounded by her family at the age of 78 on November 18 th , 2025. Bernadette is

preceded in death by her daughter Judy Ann Montoya, her parents, Victoriano and Amalia Martinez,

brother John Martinez, sisters, Eloida Annett and Lucy Archuleta.

Bernadette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. She is survived by her

husband of 58 years, Gilbert Montoya and son Gilbert Montoya, Jr. (Brenda), daughters, Vickie

Gutierrez (Ernest) and Sarah Thayer. Grandchildren: Jessica, David, Edward and Matthew Gutierrez,

Emilia Montoya, Lucas Thayer, Jordan and Madison Foust, as well as 10 great grandchildren. She is

also survived by her sister Rosabel Griego, brothers Tony Martinez, Joe Martinez (Rosemary) and

Larry Martinez as well as many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

Bernadette grew up in La Puebla of Espanola, NM with her family and later moved to Santa Fe, where

she met her love Gilbert and married him on November 11th, 1967. They soon moved to Albuquerque

and started a life there with two of four children they would have together. She and Gilbert lived in

the same home for almost 55 years where the neighbors around them became life-long friends of the

family. She was a caregiver in later years meeting many families she became close to and who loved

her.

Services for Bernadette will be as follows:

Rosary: Monday, December 1st from 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Trujillo Family Funeral Home Chapel,

110 Alvarado Drive SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108

Mass: Tuesday, December 2nd from 10:30 – 11:30 am, Holy Family Catholic Church,

562 Atrisco Drive SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105

Interment: Tuesday, December 2nd 12:00 pm, Mt. Calvary Cemetery,

1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102

Pallbearers: David Gutierrez, Edward Gutierrez, Matthew Gutierrez, Ryan Gutierrez, Alex Calderon,

Lucas Thayer

Honorary Pallbearers: Leroy Trujillo and Jesse Spier
