Anthony Joe Vigil

Anthony José Vigil (Tony)

Born on July 22nd 1938 to Ruben and Gertrude Vigil in Velarde, New Mexico. Died on January 2nd 2026 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Tony was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Vigil and his daughter Tonianne Vigil.

He is survived by his second wife Viola Luna and his son Angelo Vigil and son-in-law Richard Chipperfield. His brothers were Ruben, Robert (and wife Orlinda), Armando (and wife Eppie) Roy (and wife Mely), Gerardito, Archie, Orlando (and wife Camilla) and his sisters Toni (and husband Dickie), Orelia (and husband Victor), Rosie, Gloria (and husband Richard) and Carmen (and husband Allen).

Step-family members included David, Arthur, Michael and Mac, Charles and Patsy, Tom and Nicole, and Mariam.

Tony worked for much of his life for Smith’s Food King and was a proud member of the Holy Rosary Knights of Columbus.

Services for Tony will be conducted at the Holy Rosary Church, 5415 Fortuna Road NW, Albuquerque, on February 12th 2026.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carmen Montoya, Charles Luna and Kenneth Vigil.

Rosary at 10:15. Word Service with Communion at 11:00. 

Interment will take place at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Albuquerque, after the service at Holy Rosary Church, on February 12th 2026.

Reception to be held at Holy Rosary Church, after the interment.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Trujillo Family Funeral Home.
