ANTHONY “POLLO” GONZALEZ

February 19, 1989 – September 12, 2026

Anthony Gonzalez, affectionately known as “Pollo” to all who knew him, passed away on September 12, 2026, due to medical complications. Born on February 19, 1989, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Anthony brought light and joy to the lives of everyone he encountered. His gentle spirit and unwavering dedication to others defined his remarkable journey in life.

A proud graduate of Rio Grande High School, Anthony dedicated 23 years of his life to working at APS West Mesa High School. Here, he became not just an employee, but a cherished member of the community, touching the lives of countless students and colleagues with his kindness and infectious smile. His love for education and for his community was evident in his active participation in all school activities.

Anthony was a man of many passions. He was a devoted caregiver, always putting others before himself. His love for cars was well known, and he took great joy in fixing and driving his vehicles. Flea markets were another of his favorite pastimes, and he never missed a chance to visit one. His heart was also filled with music, especially captivated by his favorite group, Conjunto Primavera.

His faith was a cornerstone of his life, reflected in his commitment to San Jose Catholic Church and his participation in Calvary Chapel SW Bible Study. Anthony’s selflessness and loving nature made him a true servant to his community and his Lord.

Anthony is survived by his loving family: his mother, Betty Romero; his brother, Andres Gonzalez; his half-sister, Lin Gonzalez; his grandfather, Ben Romero; his godparents, Lupana and Juan Gonzalez; and a host of uncles, aunties, nephews, nieces, and cousins. His father, Sijifredo Gonzalez, preceded him in death. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will be cherished forever.

A service to celebrate Anthony’s life will be held on September 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Trujillo Funeral Home, located at 110 Alvarado Drive SE. In honor of Anthony’s giving nature, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at UNM Hospital, the supportive community at West Mesa High School, the dedicated team at Trujillo Funeral Services, and all the loving friends and family for their prayers and unwavering support during this difficult time.

Anthony will be forever in our hearts, remembered for his loving nature, his selflessness, and the joy he brought to those around him. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy of service and love, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
