Anthony Castillo, 64, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
As a lifetime member of Holy Family Catholic Church—the parish his father helped build—Anthony’s faith and love for family were the guiding forces in his life.
Born in Albuquerque in 1961 to Abenago and Corina Castillo, Anthony grew up in the South Valley as the youngest of three brothers, alongside his younger sister. Growing up, family was always at the center of his life. His mom and dad showed him by example what hard work looked like, whether it was keeping a clean home or building a living through their own efforts. Those lessons shaped him early on and stayed with him throughout his life.
Anthony was raised on Five Points Road and attended Five Points Elementary, John Adams and Truman Middle Schools, before graduating from West Mesa High School.
Having resided on Five Points Road for many years, he was surrounded by family on every side. He cherished time not only with his children, but also with his siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was the one everyone turned to first—the steady hand, the problem-solver, the one you could always count on for help.
Later in life, one of his greatest joys was becoming a grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren—whether it was four-wheeling, dirt biking, or simply spoiling them with trips to the Dollar Tree where they could pick out anything they wanted.
Anthony was always on the move—trucking, towing, buying and selling, building tiny houses, and taking on just about anything he set his mind to. In the last ten years of his life, he poured his energy into hauling heavy equipment, a work he loved and took great pride in. His dedication and work ethic were a testament to the deep love he held for his family.
Anthony’s warmth, generosity, and spirit will be remembered by all whose lives he touched.
He is proceeded in death by his loving parents, Abenago and Corina Castillo, and his son, Anthony (AJ) Castillo.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Yolanda Castillo; his children, Candice Castillo, Miles Castillo, Alexandra Castillo, Stephanie Castillo, and stepson Adam Salas; his grandchildren, Neveah and Analise Torres, Mariah and Anthony (AJ) Lucero, and Sharla Rae Montoya; his siblings, Eloy Castillo, Ivan Castillo and his wife Esther, and Linda Gallegos and her husband Alfonso; numerous nieces and nephews; and so many other close family and friends.
