Stella F. Torres, 96, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on September 30, 2026.

Stella was born on March 13, 1930, to Atanacio Fernandez and Aurora Vigil Fernandez;

she was the eldest daughter of their thirteen children. Her surviving siblings are Ben (Patricia) Fernandez, Marcia Witsoe, and Emily Pacheco. Stella was raised in Cordova, NM, but became a Los Alamos, NM resident as a teenager where she graduated from Los Alamos High School and continued to be a lifelong resident.

In 1952, Stella married Jose D. Torres (who preceded her in death), they had four children; the late Paul (Dolly) Torres, Noella (Reynaldo) Guerrero, Jody (Lucinda) Torres, and Agnes (Jeffrey) Hodas.

Beyond her devotion to her children, Stella cherished her nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. They treasured her stories, wisdom, and steadfast love, which held the family close. Though she will be deeply missed, she looked forward to being welcomed into the fullness of her Lord and Savior’s presence.
