Adelina Romero

February 4, 1941 — December 21, 2025

Ms. Adelina (Nina) Abila Romero, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025 at the age of 84 at her home in Albuquerque. She was born on February 4,1941 in Golondrinas to Higinio Abila and Benevarda (Bennie) Abila.A proud lifelong learner, Nina graduated from Robertson High School in 1960. She went on to follow her calling in healthcare, graduating from St. Vincent’s School of Practical Nursing in 1968. Her dedication to nursing and service led her to later earn her Associate’s Degree from New Mexico Highlands University and her Registered Nurse credential from the University of New Mexico. Nursing was more than a career for her, it was an expression of her compassion, strength, and commitment to caring for others while healing their bodies and lifting their spirits. Her faith was the quiet foundation of her life. A devoted Catholic, she walked closely with God and found daily strength and comfort in prayer and reading the Bible.Nina was devoted to her family. She married Waldron Romer in 1962. They had three sons together. At home, she was the joyful heartbeat of her family. She delighted in the simple magic of life: tending her vibrant garden (where every bloom seemed to smile back at her), sewing and repairing garments with loving precision, crafting breathtaking quilts that wrapped generations in warmth, and savoring lazy, sun-drenched afternoons on the patio, surrounded by laughter and the people she adored most. And let's not forget her playful side—she had a sparkle for the thrill of the slots! Whether it was a lucky spin at the casino or just dreaming of the next jackpot, she brought excitement and a mischievous grin to every outing, turning ordinary days into adventures. Her presence brought comfort, wisdom, quiet strength, and a whole lot of fun to those around her. We will keep her recipes safe and bake biscochitos in her honor.Ms. Nina Romero now rests in the arms of heaven, joyfully reunited with her middle son, Vincent Romero, whom she loved with every fiber of her being. She leaves behind a legacy that sparkles through: Her two younger brothers and their wives: Louie & Mary and Chris & Emily. Her two sons and three daughters-in-law: Tom & Merlyn, Gino & Nina, and Annie. Her five grandchildren: Cherish, Natasha, Yolanda, Leanndria & Fabian. Her three great-grandchildren: Jaxson, Jacob, & Zoey. And countless hearts she touched with her endless love, quiet wisdom, fierce care, and that unforgettable smile.Funeral service will all be held on Thursday February 5, 2026.Rosary at 10:15 am & Service at 11:00 am will both be held at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church located at 5415 Fortuna Rd NW Albuquerque, NM 87105.Burial to follow at 12:30 pm it will be held at Sandia Memory Gardens Cemetery located on 9500 San Pedro Dr NE Albuquerque, NM 87113.Joint us after at Fraternal Order of Police for a meal at 4120 Cutler Ave NE Albuquerque, NM 87110, where family and friends are invited to share stories, hugs, and memories.A Special Tribute in Her HonorIn celebration of Nina’s joyful spirit and love for beautiful blooms, the family is honored to share vibrant roses in every color that makes the heart smile.
